Q What is the difference between the normal and light lists?
A Light lists are smaller, less comprehensive variants of the normal lists. Use the light version if your blocker cannot handle the normal variant (due to it's size).

Q What is the difference between abp.oisd.nl, dbl.oisd.nl, hosts.oisd.nl, ...?
A Syntax. Unfortunately not all adblockers handle the same syntax, so choose the one that works for you.

Q hosts?.oisd.nl is bigger and has more entries than abp.oisd.nl. Does abp.oisd.nl block less?
A No. If anything, abp.oisd.nl blocks more, since it also blocks subdomains by default.

Q How do I add this blocklist to my adblocker?
A Please review the documentation of your adblocker.

Q I have a domain that should be listed, can you add it?
A I stopped manually adding domains as it is too time consuming. You can however create your own list, and pass me a link to it. I will then add it to the list of inclusions.

Q I'm using the oisd blocklist but I still see ads?
A Good chance the ads are being served from the same domain as the good content. A domain blocklist cannot block the ads without blocking the good content as well.

Q Do you report removed domains upstream?
A No. With the amount of lists included, that's near impossible. Also, the reasons for removal are often not in line with the original blocklist. However, if you send your e-mail address along when reporting a false positive, I'll send you know which one(s) so you can report at the source as you wish.

Q Should I leave the default lists enabled?
A When using this list in browser add-on blockers (eg. uBlock Origin); Yes definitely, as this is not meant to be a replacement for it's default lists.
When using this list in network based DNS blockers (eg Pi-hole, Adguard Home); No. I designed this list to be used as the sole list for DNS based blocking. But there's no shame in using this list along any other list(s).

Q Are you paid by companies to remove their domains?
A No. (If I was, I wouldn't be accepting donations)

Q Does this block youtube ads?
A No. Blocking youtube ads with domain blocklists seems to be a hit and miss
Alternatives:
- Use your browser, with add-on adblocker like uBlock Origin (Desktop, mobile)
- Vanced (Android)
- Newpipe (Android)
- https://kb.adguard.com/en/android/solving-problems/youtube-ads (Android/iOS)
- Adclear (Android)

Q Do you share your allowlist?
A Let's rephrase that: "Do you share a list of domains that are not included?"
No. All domains you see missing from this list are not included. Please do not assume this list has a certain domain in it. Don't like it? Feel free to use this list along other blocklists, or don't use it at all.

Q Will you open source the project?
A No. This project is "my baby". I'm not ready to let her go and have other people criticize her.

Q Do yo have any other recommendations besides this blocklist?
A Yes. This is a domain blocklist, created for use in a network wide DNS based ad-blocker (like Adguard Home, Pi-hole). Since they do not block youtube ads, nor hide ad-placeholders, or ads being served from the same domain as the good content, I recommend using a browser add-on ad-blocker like uBlock Origin or the Adguard Browser extension

Q What does OISD stand for?
A your best domain blocklist provider ;)
